Job Summary:

CMC Phoenix is seeking an Adult and Adolescent Behavioral Health Nurse Manager to oversee nursing services and collaborate with program staff, with 24/7 responsibility for patient care outcomes. This role interprets policies and procedures, helps identify and resolve problems, prepares reports, implements quality improvement measures, supervises staff, and evaluates performance.

The Nurse Manager also provides direct nursing care using the nursing process, participates in patient and family education and discharge planning, and supervises LVNs, LPTs, non-licensed staff, and staff RNs. The position works closely with the interdisciplinary team to uphold professional nursing standards in the clinical setting.

Job Qualifications:

  • Current, valid State of Arizona RN license required
  • Current BLS/BCLS for Healthcare Providers and ACLS; PALS required
  • CPI (or equivalent crisis intervention) and required facility Designation within 90 days of hire
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; MSN or leadership certification a plus
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in:
    • Pediatric psychiatric/behavioral health nursing (including charge experience) or
    • Inpatient pediatric psych or child/adolescent behavioral health specialty or
    • At least one (1) year of management/charge experience in the Mental Health field
  • Demonstrated competency in trauma-informed care, suicide risk assessment, and de-escalation with children/adolescents
  • Strong skills in family engagement, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to assess and meet age- and development-specific needs from early childhood through adolescence
  • Consistent alignment with unit, program, department, and facility goals and quality metrics
  • Level One Fingerprint Card required


Job Specific Duties:

  • Provides effective leadership through delegation, organization, and coordination of assigned services and staff across all shifts.
  • Serves as a clinical role model and resource, sharing expertise and supporting sound decision-making in patient care.
  • Manages unit operations and patient care in a well-organized manner, including timely, accurate clinical and administrative documentation.
  • Identifies and resolves problems and conflicts using effective communication and consistent consideration of unit and facility goals.
  • Develops, implements, and appropriately interprets policies, using sound judgment when deviations are needed to protect safety.
  • Delivers and oversees comprehensive, prioritized patient care based on ongoing assessments, ensuring safe patient handling and adherence to legal and patient-rights standards.
  • Responds efficiently to emergencies, following protocols, keeping key parties informed, and documenting events; performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Promote a culture of safety, equity, and family-centered care; ensure staff maintain required licenses, certifications, and trainings

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC Phoenix roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC Phoenix, in good faith, believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
