Job Summary

College Medical Center Phoenix is hiring an Intake Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll screen incoming patients for medical needs and determine the most appropriate level of care and disposition. You will perform thorough physical evaluations and medication reconciliations in a timely, organized manner, and work closely with Nursing Administration to maintain accurate, up-to-date bed status. You’ll collaborate with other departments and outside agencies to support an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, while strictly protecting the confidentiality and security of all patient, medical staff, and hospital information. This position reports to the Director of Intake, Intake Clinical Manager, and/or Hospital CEO and includes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Behavioral Health, or a related field required
  • Completion of an RN program and current license with the Arizona State Board of Nursing
  • Level One Fingerprint Card required
  • 3–5 years of experience in mental health, psychiatric intake, crisis services, or emergency behavioral health
  • Experience in an acute psychiatric, hospital, or crisis-stabilization setting
  • 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in intake, admissions, crisis assessment, or clinical operations
  • Experience coordinating with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, psychiatry, social work, medical staff)
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language
  • Additional languages preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge

Job Duties:

  • Provide day-to-day clinical supervision and leadership for intake staff, ensuring policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed
  • Perform and oversee comprehensive psychosocial assessments to determine appropriate level of care and treatment
  • Serve as a key resource for staff on patient care, staffing, documentation, and crisis/emergency situations
  • Train new intake staff on assessments, safety protocols, EHR documentation, and facility policies
  • Review and approve admissions, denials, and transfers, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, nursing leadership, other departments, and outside agencies (crisis teams, law enforcement, EMS, referral sources) to support safe, effective patient care
  • Provides leadership within the department. Assists the Director of Intake in conducting monthly unit meetings, educates staff on new and revised policies. Demonstrates conflict resolution skills. Able to effectively manage emergency/crisis situations.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC Phoenix roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC Phoenix, in good faith, believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
