Job Summary:

CMC Phoenix is searching for a Chief Nursing Officer to lead our Nursing team for our newly acquired hospital. The Chief Nursing Officer will develop department goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies and procedures; organize the department in accordance with administrative guidelines in order to provide specified nursing services to meet the legal, organizational, and medical staff requirements; participate with other members of the executive council in developing the hospital’s strategic plan; develop the nursing budget, functions in an advisory capacity to administration in evaluating proposed procedural changes as they relate to patient care; direct the implementation and ensure compliance with standards of nursing practice that promote optimum health care delivery and improvement of the quality of patient care. The Chief Nursing Officer will be responsible for CEU, Staff Development, Infection Control, and Psychiatric Emergency Services Clinicians.

Qualifications:

  • Active, Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; master’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ management/administrative experience in an acute care hospital; psychiatric nursing background preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers certification at time of hire.
  • CPI certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Prior experience overseeing Psychiatric Emergency Teams preferred.
  • A Level One Fingerprint Card is required

Job Specific Duties:

  • Staff Development & Quality of Care
    • Oversees staff development and continuing education (including orientation and professional advancement).
    • Continuously evaluates and improves patient care quality; reports key issues and outcomes to Administration.
    • Recommends changes to nursing and administrative policies to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
    • Assesses and recommends new or modified facilities/equipment to support high-quality care.
  • Collaboration, Communication & Community Relations
    • Leads and participates in problem-solving and policy development for Nursing Services.
    • Coordinates closely with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
    • Maintains positive relationships with patients, families, clergy, community groups, and partner agencies.
    • Communicates and represents Nursing Services’ goals to the community and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Governance Participation
    • Serves on Professional Staff Committees related to patient care.
    • Participates in policy decisions affecting Nursing Services.
    • Attends and contributes to Senior Management, Board of Directors, and Medical Staff department meetings.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC Phoenix roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC Phoenix in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
